By showing love and kindness on our daily journey in life, often we do not realise the effects that these simple yet very power qualities can have on our own families and not forget complete strangers as well.

Showing love and being kind portrays how God is to us on a daily basis. Often people tend to believe that God is harsh and that He is waiting for a moment where we step out of line, but the reality is that we know love because He first loved us.

1 John 4:19 (NKJV)

We love Him because He first loved us.

Children adore their mums and dads and are filled with complete excitement and joy by doing the very things that their parents do. For instance, dressing up in mum’s clothes and acting out a role-play as “mum” or “mum’s profession” or helping dad with projects around the home, children constantly watch and absorb what their parents do.

Simple yet impacting acts of kindness can literally make someone’s day and teach your children that by being kind and acting in love, is truly what we are called to do.

Little acts of kindness have a lasting impact. For example:

Greet and smile to strangers as you do your weekly shop or attend a doctor’s appointment;

Allow the person behind you with a few items in their basket to go in front of you;

Hold open a door for a stranger;

Spend the afternoon baking yummy biscuits or cupcakes with your children and once they are decorated and ready; hand them out to all your neighbours;

Allow your children to choose an animal that they would like to “adopt”, children love receiving updates from the charity and will feel proud that they are helping animals somewhere in the world;

Encouraging kindness among siblings is so crucial in creating unity among siblings that will last into their adult lives.

Psalm 127:3 (NKJV)

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord. The fruit of the womb is a reward.
