A church in Carshalton Sutton is looking for a childcare worker to run and support the kids Church on Sunday’s.

The childcare worker will have a strong sense of call to make a difference in the lives of children and help them to grow in their Christian faith.

The childcare worker will work with another volunteer in one group and therefore it will be a shared role. There will be another group with two other volunteers. There will be around 10 children in a group [which may become 15 children as a maximum].

The childcare worker will be responsible for the volunteers and will need to be able to use their initiative. The children’s age groups range from 4 years to 10 years old which is split into two groups according to age. The childcare worker may choose which age group they would prefer.

The childcare worker will help the children learn about faith, assist the children with being creative by making crafts, reading stories and showing films, etc.

The role may be suited to candidates with child related experience as a Teacher, nursery nurse, childcare assistant, nanny and a childcare volunteer with the sufficient experience.

The hours are from 9am – 1pm on Sunday’s.
The schedule of the hours is as follows:
9am – 10:30am will be set up
10:30 -11:30/12:00pm [approximately] will be childcare
12pm – 1pm will be set down

The responsibilities for this role include:

  • Arrive before the volunteer team to deliver resources to appropriate rooms
  • Set up kids work rooms [and crèche when that restarts]
  • Lead volunteers on setting up a Covid-19 secure kids work provision
  • Set up the kid’s check-in system
  • Run one of the kids work sessions (with a volunteer provided from the Sutton team)
  • Coordinate check out process
  • Set down and pack away all kids work resources
  • Take responsibility for any on-the-ground DBS admin
  • Maintain the kids’ equipment in good working order, and alerting the team if anything is broken or needs to be replaced
  • Keep a roster of all the children checked in to the sessions, for emergency procedures

The childcare worker will be required to attend Sutton service meetings, to collaborate with other service departments where appropriate.

This role will commence as soon as possible however the church can be flexible if needed. The role is initially for a three-month probation period which then may lead to a fixed contract.

The church is offering a salary of £15 gross per hour which will be paid through their Payroll.

To apply the following requirements must be met:

  • Be a Christian and able to use own initiative
  • Be legally allowed to work in the United Kingdom
  • Have an up to date Paediatric First Aid certificate recognised by Ofsted
  • Have an up to date Enhanced DBS certificate stating Child Workforce
  • Have the relevant childcare experience
  • Provide a minimum of two childcare related written references that can be contacted and a Church related reference
  • Have Public Liability Insurance before the role commences
